ROUND 13

The Central Coast Rugby Union season continues this coming Saturday with the penultimate round in WLG Premier 1 matches with Round 13. There are only two rounds to go before the Finals and interest is mounting to see who makes the Finals Series.

The ‘Match of the Day’ will be at Gosford Showground where home team Gosford will meet Warnervale. This will be an interesting game of rugby. Warnervale have locked in fourth spot on the competition ladder but they will be keen to maintain the momentum for the remaining two rounds before the Final Series. They are up against a Gosford team who have performed extremely well in recent weeks. They had a great win last Saturday away from home against Lake Macquarie and then the week before that had a very narrow one point loss to Avoca Beach. So Gosford are in good form and will be a real threat for Warnervale. Gosford also have the home ground advantage and it is their last match at home this year. Warnervale played well against Woy Woy last Saturday and had a resounding victory in that match. However, they will find this clash a little tougher. Warnervale have so much to play for and will be most keen to get another win in this match.  It all makes for a great day of rugby at the Showground on Saturday.

The Razorbacks travel north to meet Lake Macquarie at Walters Park, Boolaroo in what could be another exciting game of rugby. Lake Macquarie will be most keen to get back into the winner’s circle in this match as they have lost their matches over the last four weekends. They will be very upset with their loss at home last week against Gosford. They got away to a poor start in that match, and they will be most keen to remedy that this coming Saturday. The Razorbacks dropped back to third on the competition ladder with their loss to Avoca Beach last week but they still have a real chance to regain second spot with a win this Saturday. The Razorbacks have the bye in the last round so they know they must win this match well if they are to reach the Major Semi-final this year. The Razorbacks will be favourites to win this match but they will not have it all their own way on Saturday.

Woy Woy will travel to The Haven Oval on Saturday to take on Terrigal. Terrigal will go in to this clash as clear favourites. They are coming off the bye so will be freshened up and ready to go. Woy Woy have not had a win this season and they will find it most difficult to get one in this contest to say the very least. Terrigal are undefeated this year and will maintain that record this Saturday. Terrigal have taken all before them this year and they will continue to do so in this match. Woy Woy have the players to be competitive but they have leaked too many tries this year to be able to get that first victory.

Saturday also sees the continuance of the Central Coast Women’s 12’s competition. There are three matches in Round 13 this coming Saturday – Terrigal will meet Woy Woy at home, the Razorbacks travel to Boolaroo to take on Lake Macquarie, and Avoca Beach will host The Lakes at Heazlett Park…

In President’s Cup, The Bay meets Warnervale on Friday night at home, and on Saturday, Avoca Beach plays The Lakes at home, Lake Macquarie hosts the Razorbacks, and Terrigal meets Kariong at The Haven Oval.
