REPORT :
The Match of the Day at Gosford Showground saw Ourimbah outlast Gosford and ran out winners by 40 points to 29. It was an even struggle throughout with both teams having a share of the lead at various times throughout the 80 minutes. Gosford got away to the better start and by halftime led by 12 points to 11. Even early in the second half Gosford still led by 19 points to 11. However it was at this stage that the match really opened up. Ourimbah sprung into life and were able to cross for two converted tries within 2 minutes. This enabled them to take the lead by 25 points to 19. The match was certainly up for grabs at that stage. It was Ourimbah who took control in the latter stages of the match and were able to cross for a couple of late tries while Gosford was only able to respond with one. Best players for Ourimbah were No.8 Rob Peden, lock Josefa Biu and hooker Jordan Clark. Best for Gosford were flanker Sean Anelzark, and centres Josh McGlynn and Jackson Steinbeck. Ourimbah, with this win, got back into the winning ways, and will go into the Major Semi-final in 2 weeks time against Terrigal with renewed confidence. It was also a pleasing hit out for Gosford and they will be ready to go next Saturday in the Minor Semi-final against The Lakes.

Terrigal confirmed their very good recent form when they easily accounted for The Lakes by 60 points to 14 at Slade Park. Terrigal were in front on the scoreboard early on and by halftime had jumped to 29 points to 14 lead. They continued on in this very good form and posted a further 31 points in the second stanza while the home side were unable to respond with any points. Terrigal showed just the right form leading into the Finals Series. Best for Terrigal on the day were prop Nathan Simpson, winger Dan Sargeant and flanker Ryan Metcalfe. The Lakes were best served by James McCombie, Logan Hemopo and Epi Vure. The Lakes will work hard this week at training at prepare for their Minor Semi-final against Gosford next weekend.

The other two matches on the Central Coast yesterday were very close. Warnervale defeated Hornsby by 41 points to 35 at Woongarrah Oval, while at Woy Woy Oval, Woy Woy hung on to defeat Kariong by 35 to 31. There was absolutely nothing between these respective teams in both these two matches.
Warnervale went to the halftime break leading by a narrow 22 points to 14 and this tight score was also the situation at fulltime. Warnervale finished the season on a high and completed the year only the one win out of the Top Four.
Woy Woy also finished the season on a high. Woy Woy went to the halftime break leading by 23 points to 19 and were able to maintain that lead at the 80 minute mark. They won their last two matches of the season after what was a quite difficult year.

At Joseph Banks Oval, Avoca Beach were too strong for The Entrance in the President’s Cup, running out winners by 26 points to 7

Women’s 7’s rugby yesterday saw the last round of matches for this season. Four of the teams now head into the Finals Series. Most results went as expected with wins to Terrigal, Woy Woy and Hornsby.
