The 2025 Central Coast Rugby Union season continues next Saturday. Round 2 round sees four (4) WLG Premier 1 matches – in fact the round should be quite close in all four matches.

The Match of the Day will see Woy Woy host Lake Macquarie in what should be an exciting game of rugby at Woy Woy Oval. Both teams had exciting wins last Saturday. Lake Macquarie came from behind to defeat Northlakes/The Bay while Woy Woy had their best start to a season for many years when they easily accounted for Gosford. Woy Woy had such a tough year last year but things are looking far better for them this coming season. They will be most keen to follow up their win last Saturday with another great effort against Lake Macquarie. However, it will not be easy. Lake Macquarie are making their big trip of the year when they travel to Woy Woy Oval on Saturday. However, they are a strong team and they showed their promise last weekend when they came from behind to get the victory. It all makes for an exciting contest on Saturday.

Terrigal travel to Slade Park on Saturday to take on Northlakes/The Bay. Terrigal will go into the clash as clear favourites. Terrigal had a resounding win last Saturday when they convincingly won at home. Northlakes/The Bay lost narrowly away from home to Lake Macquarie. Northlakes/The Bay is at home this Saturday which should prove a huge factor in their favour. However, Terrigal played some outstanding rugby last Saturday and will be most confident in this clash. Northlakes/The Bay will need to play the full 80 minutes of rugby on Saturday if they are to overcome the visitors.

Avoca Beach take on Gosford Kariong Rugby Club at Heazlett Park in what is a big game for both teams. Both teams had resounding losses last week and will be most keen to atone for that this coming Saturday. Gosford Kariong lost easily to Woy Woy, while Avoca Beach had a surprisingly big loss to the Razorbacks. Both teams will be most keen to get their first win of the season. Avoca Beach will be most pleased to be home after the result last Saturday. They would have regrouped during the week and will be fully prepared for this encounter. Avoca Beach are always so much stronger at home and will go into this match as favourites. Gosford Kariong will improve as the season goes on, as the new combinations are worked on and cemented.

Warnervale are at home on Saturday, and will play the Razorbacks at Woongarrah Oval. The Razorbacks were razor sharp last Saturday when they easily defeated last year’s Grand Finalists, Avoca Beach. That result showed that The Razorbacks have hit the season running. They had a great pre-season and this form has carried into the competition proper. They will be favourites in this match despite them playing away from home. Warnervale had a most difficult time last Saturday. It was a most disappointing result for them against Terrigal, and they will be most keen to make amends this coming Saturday. They are at home and they always put in a far better effort at Woongarrah. They will need to if they are to trouble the Razorbacks on Saturday.

Saturday also sees the continuance of the Central Coast women’s competition and there should be some interesting contests on the weekend. The match between Woy Woy and Lake Macquarie holds much interest.
